Brilliant Idea

If you know me personally you know that I'm always coming up with great ideas in the shower--it's where all fantastic ideas come to me! Well this morning I was (surprise) taking a shower and (surprise) had a great idea...

I've been struggling with my love of shopping for awhile, and as I've mentioned before I feel like I've at least been better about really thinking before I buy-- do I need this? Do I love this? But I have an incredibly hard time sticking to a budget. Which needs to stop right now, because Lord only knows what will happen to me when I'm out in the world with a big girl job and a credit card... It is my personal goal to get this under control by 2014. Simultaneously, I have been slacking on working out. This is a problem, because I love working out! It gives me energy, makes me feel great, and is obviously very good for my health. Once again, another habit I have lost track of that I want to fix by 2014.

Now to my idea in the shower. The beauty of it is that is merges both of these goals!! How? Well I'm so glad you asked...

-- I start a virtual clothing money bank.

-- Each time I work out I put $1 in it. (Stipulations here: workout must be at least 20 minutes long, and walking around campus does not a workout make. Yoga counts.)
-- If I work out at least 4 times a week, 4 weeks in a row, I get to put an extra $5 in my clothing fund.

What do you think? Sounds brilliant right?! I think I might be on to something...

Assuming I make my practical goal of four times a week, and therefore make my $5 bonus, then that gives me $21 a month. And if I were to workout everyday (which is an ultimate goal) I'd be at $33 a month. Another thing to take into account is gift money (not gift cards). In the case of gift money, I will set a percentage I can add to my clothing fund. This percentage should be no greater than 50%. It might sound crazy or silly to you, but that's ok. At this point I need to try anything and everything I can to reach these goals! I will update you as this "Fit2Shop" challenge progresses.

Wish me luck!
