I mentioned that I was DIY-ing my headboard a month or so ago, and as promised, here is the tutorial!
Materials Needed:
--Stretcher canvas frames (each side is bought as an individual piece so you can custom make your size canvas or, in this case, headboard frame)
--Batting
--Fabric of your choice
--staple gun
--hanging method of your choice (I used the sawtooth style)
--about 45 minutes to an hour of your time!
How To
1. Collect your materials. I didn't keep close track of my receipts, but I'd say I spent about $40 or less on the whole project. Obviously variables include size of the frames and how much your fabric costs. Also make sure you have a large workspace!
2. Put frames together. They lock in, and then I just secured them with staples on the corners.
3. Wrap frame in batting. I wrapped both frames together, but you could do a paneled effect too if you wanted. Simply lay down the batting, place the frames on top, and then staple the batting to the frames all the way around, stretching it taught as you go. now it's all one unit!
4. Now wrap the headboard unit in your fabric! (just like in step three).
5. Add any additional staples for stability, attach hanging hardware, and you are ready to put up your masterpiece!
In the end, I am so pleased with how this headboard came out! It was quick & easy, no sewing required, and will be so easy to transport. Plus, it would be super easy to change up the fabric for a different look. Berlioz seems to like it... what about you? Would you try this DIY headboard?
