Today I'd like to share what I packed for my trip with my family to Europe!
Before I start, a little refresher on our trip details: We did a river cruise, which started in Prague, Czech Republic, sailed on the rivers through Germany, and ended in Paris, France. The whole trip, start to finish and including travel days, was 13 days long. Weather stayed in the 60-70's, with several days being in the 80-90's, and we did encounter some rain. Overall, it was beautiful weather! So here is what I packed (aside from pi's, undies, etc), and what I actually wore...
7 Tops & Tees, 3 Basic Tanks
To accommodate for changing temperatures, I packed a variety of basics to layer, as well as a couple printed tops. I ended up wearing everything, although I probably could have left at least one top at home.
4 Dresses
I wore the heck out of my dresses! They were great for traveling, as a dress is a complete outfit in one, plus they transitioned from day to night well for dinners on the boat. When I study abroad next year, I will probably bring a few more dresses, because I tended to gravitate towards them on this trip.
4 Bottoms
If you include the yoga pants I traveled in, then 5! I wore the gray skinny jeans a lot, as well as the navy knee-length wrap skirt. I wore the jeans and the shorts one time each, but I was glad I had brought them.
3 Sweaters
I wore the cornflower blue pullover on our travel days, and once or twice at night up on deck of the ship, and the cardigans were a daily staple! Having one white and one black one was all I needed.
Jewelry
Because of my deep love for jewelry, I'm actually really impressed that I was able to bring just this! I brought 7 necklaces, 3 bracelets, and 6 pairs of earrings. I left all rings at home, as well as anything that was sentimental in nature. You just never know what might get lost or stolen! I wore everything at least once, and felt like this was a good combination on pieces to play with.
4 Pairs of Shoes
I ended up having to buy a 5th pair on our trip, because of a little Achilles Tendonitis I developed, which I then wore basically the whole time. I did make use of both sandals, and I wore the tennis shoes on several occasions, including travel days. I really could have gone without my Sperry's.
So there you have it! Overall I think I packed really well, and made use of everything I brought. I used to always over pack, but I think as I travel more to see Kyle, to come home for a week or two at a time, I've developed a better sense of what I will actually wear and need. Are you an over packer or an under packer?
What have you packed for a long trip? Any tips for me for next summer in Florence?
