Over the weekend, I attended a conference in Savannah, GA hosted by ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and SCAD. It was for student members of ASID, and it was a wonderful learning and networking experience! I was a little nervous for the weekend, mostly because I used to go to SCAD and I wasn't sure how it would feel going back there, to a place that I didn't realize how unhappy I was until I left. (Just a note: I have absolutely nothing against SCAD, and I learned so much while I was there, it just wasn't a good fit for me.)
It was such a fun weekend! The city of Savannah has changed so much since I left in 2013, so it was almost as if I was there for the first time, except I knew my way around like the back of my hand. :) SCAD also has made some updates to their buildings, and the cafeteria I used to eat at everyday looks so much better than it did when I was there.
I could go on and on about all the stuff I learned, but I am still catching up from the exhausting weekend (and I feel the beginnings of a cold coming on) so instead I'll just share a few snapshots from my weekend!
One of my favorite things about Savannah is the large oak trees in the squares, and the way the twisting branches look like art. I love looking up through them and seeing a fragmented view of the sky!
I had never been inside Poetter Hall when I used to go there, but we had a conference event there and I nearly freaked when I saw these gorgeous American Hepplewhite style shield-back dining chairs. I briefly went to furniture historian heaven!
These last two photos were from our breakfast trip to The Collins Quarter, the cutest little coffee shop and brunch place downtown. We were late for the opening keynote for the day (didn't plan the timing right) but it was SO worth it for the amazing coffee & food.
Overall it was a wonderful weekend, and I'm so so glad that I went! Happy Tuesday, y'all!
