Something New: Gray Jeans

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

As mentioned in this post last week, I recently acquired a pair of gray skinny jeans from the LOFT (these!). While it's not necessarily jean weather here in Florida, there is a possibility they might be going with me to Europe this summer, so I'm starting to think about what I'll wear with them. Gray is my favorite neutral, and if I can't figure out what to wear my go-to is a simple gray tee, bold colorful necklace, and jean bottoms. So when I saw these gray jeans on super clearance ($5!) in the store, I knew I'd figure out how to style them no problem. Surprisingly, a Pinterest search for "gray skinny jeans" did not yield quite the plethora of ideas I had hoped for. Does this mean gray jeans are not "in"? Or do people just not come across them in stores very often? Nevertheless, I plan on rocking them and sharing how I style them. In the meantime, here are some of my inspirations for this new addition to my closet!

Gray + Neon

Gray + Boots

Gray + Subtle Stripes

Gray + Neutrals

And I found this helpful little color pallet on what other colors to pair with gray...

I'm certainly excited to try my new jeans with mint, cobalt, navy, coral, neon... Stay tuned! I just might have to let this humid Florida heat tone itself down a bit. The mere thought of pants is making me sweat! lol!

Color Crush: Coral, Mint, & Navy

Thursday, May 22, 2014

The combination of coral, mint, and navy is fun & on-trend, yet remarkably classic. Together or separate, these colors are sure to show up in your closet this spring and summer. Below are some picks that I am keeping in mind to add to my closet.

A little story behind some of these items:
--I recently bought a pair of linen pants, and I have been wanting to wear them daily! They are so comfortable for the summer, especially for me as my classroom is cold but by the time class is over it's hot in Tally. So another pair is on my wish list.
--While shopping at the mall in Daytona while on vacation, I found myself in Sears, trying on the drapey tee you see here. I bought it in black, and the fit is amazing! Boxy or drapey tops don't always flatter me, but this one does, and the price can't be beat... $9!
--The striped moto jacket you see here was also a random dressing room try-on in Daytona, at Dillard's. There, they had it on clearance for just under $50. I loved it, didn't need it, and didn't love the price so I put it aside. After checking online through several different stores to see if I could find one for cheaper, I only found them for more expensive! Now I'm wishing I had scooped it up!
