February Style

Monday, February 29, 2016

I'm kicking off the last day in February by sharing some of my favorite looks from this past month! If I had to narrow it down to just three... I'd pick my Red & Plaid look, Valentine's Day look, and the date-night look I put together with pieces from my 6th Stitch Fix Haul. As the temperatures start to get warmer and spring creeps in, I added more brights & colors to my outfits-- I'm looking forward to spring style! Anyone else ready for some more warm-weather styles?!

Happy Monday!

Hints of Spring

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

The minute I saw this moody floral print tee at LOFT I knew I had to have it, because the olive tone in it was the perfect match for these pants. I was totally right! I love these two pieces together; they are a perfect transition outfit from winter into spring because of the florals combined with the dark colors. When I wore this yesterday for class, I threw on my silver glitter Toms, but I think it also looks great with wedges for a dressier, springtime look. As far as layers go, I grabbed a gray sweater on my way out the door, but a white jean jacket would also look so cute with these looks!

Cold Layers

Thursday, February 18, 2016

January and February are home to some of the coldest days we get here in north Florida. When I wore this two weeks ago (I totally got ahead of my blogging! yay!) it was F R E E Z I N G. I'm from Colorado, so I've definitely been in colder before, but it was still darn cold! These layers were just barely enough... had I looked at the temperature before I left the house I would have thrown on a cami underneath my sweater from just a little extra warmth.

I love the combination of my olive pants with this scarf I picked up in Italy last summer... they were definitely made for each other! I wore a similar look back in the fall, but I think I like this winter version better :) What can I say, I love winter fashion!

Touch Of Flair

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

Another look from last week's trip to see my man. :) I kept it simple for a day running of few of his errands with him by pairing my go-to navy sweater with boot cut jeans and booties. The flair here is all in the accessories! I love the way the Premier Designs "New Neutrals" necklace pops against an otherwise monochromatic look, and it ties in the color of my booties perfectly. And the tassel accents are so fun!

Wind, Love & Leather Leggings

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

This was my outfit from last week, on my semi-last minute visit to see Kyle in Daytona. He always makes a face when I ask him to pretty please take a few outfit pictures for me, but he was sweet when he was taking these. I was fighting a little wind pushing my hair in my face, and while I'm complaining he made a comment about how it was okay because it turned out really pretty. So cute! This is why I love this man... well, and a million other reasons too. :)

I've worn these leather leggings a lot recently! Here I styled them with a tunic and a long, cascading cardigan to cover my butt. (Kyle thought I was silly for wanting to keep my butt covered in leggings.. men! lol ) Unfortunately, once I got back home I realized I left these leggings hanging up in his laundry room, and I won't see him for a few weeks... bummer!

Red & Plaid

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

You all saw this look on Instagram last Friday (In fact, you loved it! I got over 70 likes, unlike anything I've seen before! So thanks for the love! :) ) so here are all the details today! I wore this to a Premier Jewelry party, and the hostess was a dear friend and Alpha Phi sister of mine. We had such a fun night playing in the jewelry, and she walked away with over $200 in free jewelry! I love my job! :)

Anyway, onto the outfit: it was definitely chilly, so layers were a must. I wore red in honor of Wear Red Day for women's heart health awareness, and I paired it with leather leggings and my booties for a trendy vibe. I love the statement the On Pointe necklace makes, and I thought my cozy scarf from Scotland tied everything together.

Casual Polish

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

I think the thing that makes leather leggings so attractive to wear is that while they are both casual and polished. Since I re-discovered mine recently, I wore them yesterday to run an errand on campus and then get a little schoolwork done while there. Obviously comfort was key, but I also wanted to look a little put together. Ergo, the leather leggings! Because I'm not into showing my bum to the world, a tunic was an easy choice, and I was going to be doing a little walking so Keds it was. Just because you need a practical outfit doesn't mean you can't look cute!

Bold & Playful

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

I wore this bright look over the weekend for a Premier Jewelry event I hosted. This dress, a new purchased I first talked about last week, is so fun. I love the playful nature of the swing-style skirt, and the comfort level is easily 20 on a scale of 1-10! :) Spring Break, the name of the necklace I'm wearing, is such a bold statement piece; I can see it being worn all throughout spring & summer with sundresses. With the slightly warmer weather we've been having lately here in north Florida, this necklace has me dreaming of how I might spend my spring break and summer!

My January Style

Monday, February 1, 2016

Here's a look at some of my favorite outfits (and yours!) from the month of January! Shameless plug here, but I have to say that I feel like my personal style was 100% on point this month. One thing I attribute that to is starting off the month going through my closet, and then repeating about half way through the month. This gave my favorite pieces a little more breathing room, and allowed me to see what I actually wear and love!

About a year ago I wrote a post on Defining Your Personal Style. Looking back, I feel like I was certainly on my way to zeroing in on my personal style, but I still wasn't really there yet. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm really there now either! But this month I definitely came closer; I felt like I always knew what I wanted to wear, which hasn't always been the case in the past. I've been reading a lot of articles recently about capsule wardrobes, so I wonder if that has had any effect. I also participated in two Instagram-based fashion challenges in January, which kept my creative juices flowing. Who knows what it is, but either way I'm happy that I'm finally feeling as if I'm starting to figure something out. :)

A few of the capsule wardrobe / minimalist articles I've read recently that are inspiring...

Boho Flair

Thursday, January 28, 2016

So as you might remember I became obsessed with dresses while studying abroad in Italy. I've been trying to incorporate them into my day to day wear, because they can be oh-so-comfortable, but it's been harder with the cold weather we've been having. Enter this amazing find at my local TJMaxx (I've linked the same dress but at Nordstrom Rack)! It's so soft and cozy, yet lightweight enough that I could wear it with minimal layers for spring, as temps warm back up. I love the plum color too, a color I'm starting to collect more pieces of.

I paired it here with my recent shoe obsession, my fringe booties. To add even more boho flair, the New Neutrals necklace from Premier's Spring/Summer 2016 collection does the trick! I really love this look, although I'm not sure what tights I would wear with this dress and boots combo if I wanted to cover up more... hmm....

A Little Leather

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

These leather-look leggings were originally purchased for a friends birthday party theme, and while they are very on-trend I've only worn them a few times since then. Last week we had a cooler day in north Florida, with rain on and off. I paired my leggings with one of my favorite tunic for running errands; I'm all about stripes, plus this one covers my butt, all while flowing nicely. I topped it all off with my olive green fringe cardigan, simple rose gold jewelry (one of my errands was to get my engagement ring cleaned, so of course I had to match!) and simple black flats. Of course by the time I actually left to go on my errands, the weather warranted rain boots instead.

Go Broncos!

Monday, January 25, 2016

I'm keeping it short and sweet today. This was what I wore yesterday to run to Target really quick before the game started (I was on my last roll of toilet paper!), so all the Floridians probably thought I was a UF Gator fan that got lost and found themselves in FSU Seminoles territory... Nope, just a Colorado Girl cheering on the Broncos as they make their way to SuperBowl 50!!!!! So exciting!

The Dark Side

Thursday, January 21, 2016

This outfit kind of feels like a uniform, or that I'm an extra in a Star Wars movie! lol :)
It's definitely an overall darker look than I normally go for, but I'm all for taking risks now and then. You saw a glimpse of this outfit yesterday on Instagram, and I snapped a few quick pictures of it before the sun went down... But only after I nearly had a heart attack!

I came home from classes and couldn't find my sweet kitty boy Berlioz! I had maintenance people come today for my dishwasher, so I naturally feared the worst, that he'd somehow run out, even though I had locked him safely in my bedroom before I left. (I feel I should also mention it was a long day so rational thinking went out the window.) After frantically looking all around my small apartment multiple times, calling for him with tears forming, I finally found him hiding under my bed in a spot I didn't know existed.

I think the maintenance guys made so much noise that they just terrified him, and I'm actually wondering if he had been hiding there ever since they showed up. And who knows when that was!

Easy & Colorful

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

On Saturday, I spent the better part of the day taking care of a long list of Premier to-do's, to prepare my business for the months ahead. By the time the late afternoon rolled around, I realized I still needed to run get a couple things at the store, and drop my recycling off! It was gorgeous weather, so I threw on my most comfortable pair of jeans (a loose, boyfriend style fit I thrifted) with a simple tee, my cute green jacket, and some pops of colors with the Papaya necklace and my rose gold sandals. Easy, quick, and colorful to match the warmer temps! I apparently was looking good enough to warrant getting asked out to coffee by a cute and very nervous guy at the store... He was so embarrassed when I told him I was engaged, poor guy!

Turtleneck

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

I love throwing on my cowboy boots with jeans in the wintertime... Last week I paired mine with bootcut jeans, and a cozy turtleneck sweater. I wore it with my green peacoat in the morning, but by the time I got home it wasn't really wool coat weather anymore, so for pictures I tried this with my black and white printed vest. Seeing this outfit in pictures, I'm not sure it was as cute as I thought it was... Does that ever happen to you? I might have just not put it up on the blog, but I try to be honest with y'all. We can't always have 100% perfect outfits after all!

Warmth

Monday, January 18, 2016

Nothing could have been a better solution to a series of chilly days in a row... Soft plum cords, a cozy sweater, supple leather jacket, suede booties, and a scarf to tie it all together make for a warm outfit, perfect for winter. A simple pony and headband make this a no-fuss, easy look to throw on.
