Turtleneck

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

I love throwing on my cowboy boots with jeans in the wintertime... Last week I paired mine with bootcut jeans, and a cozy turtleneck sweater. I wore it with my green peacoat in the morning, but by the time I got home it wasn't really wool coat weather anymore, so for pictures I tried this with my black and white printed vest. Seeing this outfit in pictures, I'm not sure it was as cute as I thought it was... Does that ever happen to you? I might have just not put it up on the blog, but I try to be honest with y'all. We can't always have 100% perfect outfits after all!

Plum Cords: Paisley

Thursday, December 3, 2015

This week, I'm taking my pair of plum-colored cords and styling them five different ways! So make sure you check in each day to see how I mix things up. Look for a wrap-up post on Monday :)

I really love boots, and I especially love cowboy boots! I paired by brown pair with the plum cords, and topped it off with this slouchy tee from Francesca's, which has hints of orange that tie in the stitching on my boots. Simple jewelry keeps the outfit from looking too crazy, as the paisley printed shirt is quite loud.

The other day I spent an hour or so taking some outfit pictures... with my tripod.

If you've been following for awhile, you might know that the tripod and I have not always been friends. You might also know that I feared the tripod after Berlioz knocked it down, camera attached, and broke my camera. But I decided to be brave and try it again, this time with success! Aside from the fact that there isn't really a great place to take pictures inside my apartment, and the light on my back porch was not conducive to picture taking at the time, they didn't turn out as bad as I feared. My roommates foster cat even found herself wanting to be apart of the action! :)

Since I started this blog back in the summer of 2013, I have certainly come a long way and learned a lot. Something I've become to realize is that, while it's great to be inspired and driven by what other bloggers are doing, I am vastly different from them. I don't have the latest trends off J.Crew, Zara, or high end stores--I'm in college, and am on a tight budget. I don't always have someone to help me take outfit pictures, nor any sort of professional photographer. But despite those things, it's been a fun process, so thank you for letting me share my inner thoughts with you all everyday!

This outfit kind of reminds me of my first ever outfit post on This Styled Life, with the neutrals and pop of red. A great classic combination that stands the test of time!

Vest (originally c/o Groopdealz but similar here, here, and white tweed version here)
old GAP tee / iT! Jeans (similar) / Justin Cowboy Boots

Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed any time off you had over the weekend, and were able to spend time with family and friends. I'm so glad I was able to go home! In fact, the outfit I'm sharing today is actually what I wore on the plane home last week. My mom snapped a picture just before we headed to Target. As you can see, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to many trips to Target every week!

But now back to my outfit... I recently scored this designer-inspired vest on Groopdealz, and was so happy it came in the mail in time for my Thanksgiving trip! It ended up being the perfect companion to the Colorado weather this time of year, and a stylish one at that. The stylish design of it is exacerbated by the clever use of pattern mixing, something I've definitely been fond of recently. And I would't dare travel out west without my cowboy boots! I actually like wearing them when I travel, because they are pretty simple to get on and off, they keep my feet warm but not hot like riding boots do, and they are just fun!

What do you wear when you travel? Where did you find yourself this weekend for the holiday?

Glam Confessions

GAP Jacket (similar) / Apt. 9 Dress / Vintage Boots (similar) / Premier Designs Jewelry

Sometimes, a girl just needs to wear cowboy boots. And sometimes, those cowboy boots call for a little glam to be thrown in the mix. I love the combination of vintage boots and worn-looking jacket with a simple printed dress dress and blingy accessories!

Confession #1: I have lipstick on my teeth in these pictures... I tried to photoshop it out to hide my fail... It didn't work... So the lipstick on my teeth shall stay. Hey, no one is perfect, right?!

Confession #2: I was so excited this spring when I purchased this jacket, thinking it would be nice to have a lighter denim jacket in addition to my darker one. But I have barely worn it! I loved the roughed-up look of the collar, however I've been finding it has limited my pairing options. Do you every run into a problem of similar nature? I'm not ready to give up but I certainly need some ideas! My hope is that this fall I will be able to mix it in more, since I'll actually have a need to wear a jacket (since it got no wear over the summer!).

How would you style this jacket?
