Impulse Buy

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

I was so excited about my new camouflage kitten heels (a score from Saturday's shopping trip to Nordstrom Rack) that I just had to wear them to church on Sunday! While they were an impulse buy, I think it was a good choice because I already had an outfit planned to wear them with. They pair perfectly with my new fringe cardigan. And yes, I am wearing it two days in a row on the blog. Sorry, not sorry... It's just so soft!

Salute

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

First off, thank you to all Veterans past, future, and present for serving our country. I salute the effort you have put forth in keeping our country free, and commend your families for their love and support. Our country would not be the same without you, and I will be forever grateful. Thank you to all my relatives who have served, especially both of my late grandfathers for their services in the Air Force.

Today's outfit is a salute to the contrast of feminine with masculine. The blush colored top creates an elegant contrast with camo jeans, exacerbated with pops of gold in the accessories. Fall booties ground the look, adding onto the practicality that is camo print. In the end, we get a stylish salute to our friends in uniform.

Happy Veterans Day!

Five Friday Favorites: 5 Best Years of My Life

Friday, February 14, 2014

Happy Valentines Day!
This morning I am driving down to Daytona to spend the weekend with Kyle. Our anniversary is Valentines Day, and today year marks FIVE years that we have been dating! Crazy!! I love him so much and it goes without saying that he is my best friend, my support system, the one who always makes me laugh, and my everything. I cannot imagine my life without him! :) Since I haven't shared our story yet, I thought today was an appropriate day to do so.

Our story starts back in 2008, when he moved to Colorado from Tennessee. We had a couple classes together, I thought he was cute & funny and that accent... he had a great southern accent, so naturally I developed a little crush (so very high school lol!). Well when 2009 rolled around I finally got sick of having this secret crush, so I asked him to the Sadie Hawkins Dance. I had prepared myself for any number of outcomes, but he said yes and I was so excited! (Of course I still freaked out and came to the class we had together just barely on time because I realized that I had no idea what to say to him now that he said yes!)

(Here we are before the Sadie Hawkins Dance!)

Our first date was golfing, as Kyle worked at a golf course. We had so much fun! It was my first date ever, so I was nervous, but he took all the worry out of me by making me laugh. At the time, my family and I were living in a hotel because of an asbestos outbreak at my house, and even though it was awkward because he had to take me "home" to the hotel, we bonded over the fact that he had lived in a hotel before too.

It became official Valentines Day of 2009, and we have been together ever since, most of it long distance. In 2010 when we graduated high school, I went off to Savannah for SCAD, he moved back to Daytona, but we made it work. And then I left SCAD and lived at home for a bit, but we made it work. And now I'm at FSU, but we make it work.

Long distance isn't easy, but I can't picture my life with anyone else. There are plenty of ups and downs, but we are committed and know that our relationship will be made stronger because of it. I am so happy and blessed to have spent the past 5 years with this amazing man!

I hope y'all enjoyed our story, and I hope you all have a fun Valentines Day surrounded by those you love!

Birthdays, Stripes & Camo

Monday, February 10, 2014

Before I say anything else... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOMMY!! I wish I could be in Colorado with her today, but I will just have to send her love from Florida. Here she is with my Daddy, when we went on a family hiking trip over winter break. Brr! But how cute are they?!

As you may recall from this post, I am the new owner of camouflage pants! I love them, and have worn them several times already in the week or two I've owned them. The other day, I paired them with stripes, neon, and Sperry's for a casual but preppy look. I was a little unsure of the ensemble, but I wore it anyway and rocked it! Several compliments later, and I think it was a pretty successful outfit. Whoot Whoot!

I also played with pairing them with my pink baseball-sleeved sweater, and liked that look too! The pink makes them less edgy and more refined, I think.

Would you wear camo pants? Would you pair them with stripes or pink like I have? Got any ideas what else I could wear them with?
