I love these leaves! Beautiful fall colors abound, with a hint of dewy sparkle. In outfit form, coated green jeans and brown riding boots ground the outfit, while a tan sweater and patterned scarf add fun up top. Sparkly jewelry adds just the right sophisticated touch, and a wool hat tops off the whole ensemble. The end result is an outfit perfect for strolling through a park laden with fallen leaves. Oh, to dream. It won't be anywhere close to that in Florida anytime soon!

The bright and bold colors in this weathered door grab my attention. I picture this being somewhere in Italy, tucked away in a back alley behind a gelato shop. My outfit would have been perfect for my trip this summer to Europe (taking note for next summer...), with it's basic backdrop and pop of color in the accessories. The clutch was a gift from my mom, and it's by a brand called Comely that makes purses of out seat belts. Pretty cool stuff, and durable too! I have a bigger navy bag that has been with me for years, the same way this door has been with it's building. Well, maybe not as long as the door :)

What I love about this interior space is how familiar it is. Like the couch at your parents house, it's comfortable in both look and feel. Yet somehow it still manages to look pulled together, even as the years go by. Well, hopefully! Drawing inspiration from the simple color palette, I also chose basic and simple pieces for my outfit. Together, they create something not-so-basic.

Happy First Day of Fall! 

Even though the weather is barely cooling down here in Florida, I am so excited for cooler weather because it means fall style! 

I didn't truly appreciate fall style until I left Colorado, probably because we really only have summer and winter, with little mini periods of spring and fall. Not that there is much more of fall or spring here, but it feels like there might be. Or maybe it's all in my head. 

Regardless, I love the rich fabrics, warm tones, and variety of textures that come into play for fall. Leather, heavy knit, and suede provide an elegant contrast to silky textures, while deep burgundy, navy, and camel become basics to pops of blush and hunter green. The overall palette is warm & inviting, perfect for snuggling up under a blanket in front of a fire.

Prints On Prints

Mixing prints is such a fun trend, yet a tricky one to pull off. The trick? Keep the colors in the two prints the same, and mix a larger print with a smaller print. Here, I have large black polka dots paired with a more detailed print, which fetters black and cobalt blue. I brought back more dots with my black flats, which have subtle polka dots in the fabric. And voila! Three prints in one outfit without looking overwhelming. A bonus, is a look like this is perfect for an office environment. I'm taking a mental note for my next class presentation in Studio 2...

I've been looking up and generating my own info graphics for a current project in my Studio 2 class, and it got me thinking how much I love info graphics! That's the designer in me I guess, but they can provide you with great information in a very creative and impressing way. Would you rather read a sentence or paragraph about something, or look at text interspersed with images and graphic elements? I'd certainly pick the latter!

Love this easy to follow formula for days when you stand in your closet perplexed!

Garnet & Gold

Some of my game-day looks from past games.

Fall means football season, and a lot of pressure to live up to a National Champion title here in Tallahassee. It also means (almost) weekly fashion shows, and pressure in "Girl World" to look as cute as possible. While not on the same level as New York Fashion week (going on now!), FSU Game Days are basically one long fashion show. When I first came to Tallahassee, I struggled with this. Why? Because out west, people don't dress up for games like they do here. You wear your teams t-shirt and jean bottoms, and boots or sneakers and you're set! It still boggles my mind how dressy girls here get, just to be sweaty in a hot stadium with a million other hot & sweaty people. So I stick to my roots and continue to wear my team t-shirts, trying to mix up my bottoms to keep up with the rest of "Girl World." One such piece I keep coming back to is my garnet circle skirt! It's been a staple for me, along with a few other things. This year though, I'd like to add in some more "dressier" pieces to my game day collection, like a gold cross body, pretty blouses, and a great dress.

Jump Into Fall

Y'all already know that I love rompers, and with that love comes one of jumpsuits. I'm still looking for the perfect one to add to my closet, but I was perusing Nordstrom Rack online the other day and came across this great little number by Tart. The pattern is fun and geometric, which is a great way to transition from summer into fall. Complete the look with some gunmetal accessories, a fun deep turquoise bag, and your favorite sandals from summer. As it starts to get cooler, throw on a jean jacket and you are good to go!

I have a huge love for Nordstrom Rack... I've collected some great jewelry pieces from there, as well as some of my favorite dresses. And shoes! Oh they have so many tiny-footed options! That alone is amazing to me, being a 5/5.5! Tallahassee just got an H&M, which everyone is obsessing over, but the day we get a NR... I just might die!

Draped in Miltenberg

These pictures were taken in the German village of Miltenberg. Both of these pieces, the top and the jeans, were go-to's during my trip. The tank is lightweight and feels casual, but the fun cobalt blue print and draping make it dressy. Gray jeans are becoming my staple now I think--they work for all seasons and  are a great neutral to let other aspects of an outfit shine. I finished off the look with silver accessories, and added my new favorite sandals. 

As you've heard if you've read some of my other posts about Europe, I was forced (I know, so horrible) to go shoe shopping because I developed Achilles Tendonitis in my heel and needed some sandals that didn't have a back on them. Enter these beauties from Gabor, a UK based shoe brand that I was happy to find out ships internationally! I wore them for the rest of the trip, because I love them so much. (Okay, I also had to if I didn't want to be in pain on all our walking tours!) I'm considering investing in another pair for my study abroad trip next summer to Florence, in anticipation that I might have a similar problem with my heel. 

Miltenberg was a fun city, but we only had half a day there before we set sail to Rudeshime. The highlight of the small city is the Marketplatz, a downtown area featuring half-timbered houses, a fountain, and a nearby church, some of which date back to the 14th century! It wasn't my favorite stop in Germany, but it was still unique and a nice place to visit.

In Prague, our walking tour took us by the John Lennon wall, with layers upon layers of song lyrics and markings from people all over the world. It was a cool sight to see, and the wall ended up being the perfect backdrop to my outfit that day. Equal parts grunge & equal parts colorful, the pop of color in the sneakers brings the basic outfit to life.

Fall Colors

Premier released their new catalog while I was in Europe, which features many of the great color trends we have to look forward to this fall when it comes to fashion. Naturally, it got me thinking about leaves falling from the trees and cuddling up in scarves--quite a drastic change from the hotness of late summer! Some of my favorite colors to come? See below!

I'm loving these color combinations, and I think they can transition into winter with the addition of some darker colors like charcoal gray and black.

I'm especially excited for the above colors. I have a camel leather jacket I can't wait to wear, a creme tweed jacket perfect for cooler months, and a blush blazer I'm ready to sport again. My recently acquired dove grey jeans got a lot of use in Europe, and I'm excited to transition them into fall. With FSU being the Garnet & the Gold, I already have a lot of burgundy I am ready to wear not just on game day. As far as peacock blue goes, I am looking forward to adding some to my wardrobe!

Cobalt + Black

Today I'm sharing one of the outfits I wore on our trip!

I flaunted this combo in Prague, and the view behind me can be seen standing on Charles Bridge. Aside from the graffiti behind me, it's a beautiful bridge, with a ton of amazing sculptures and rich history. 

I loved the simplicity of this outfit. This dress is made out of the softest fabric--I could live in it! I may or may not be considering ordering a second color for next summer's study abroad in Florence... Cobalt is one of those colors that I think just looks really great on me, and I love pairing it with black to tone down the brightness just a bit. The lightweight gold statement necklace adds just the right touch for a day of sightseeing.

As summer reaches it's hottest points, all I can usually think about is comfy clothes, and staying in the AC as much as possible. Along those notes, I can picture myself curling up in this reading nook with a good book and some lemonade, not moving for hours as I discover a new world in a book. This was exactly how I spent many summer days as a kid, and still sometimes now. 

The soft blues of the pillows led me to this relaxed color scheme of blue, green, and tan. The soft baseball tee (Gap) exudes comfort, much like the blanket & pillows in this space. Playful seahorse shorts (J. Crew Factory) add a playful touch, as does a fun patterned tote (Gap) for all your beach day essentials. Silver earrings and a watch (both Premier Designs) are all the accessories you need on a hot day. Finally, a nautical belt (Gap) and tan sandals (Payless) finish off the casual summery look.

Neon Tee For Night

Yesterday, I showed you how I wore a neon tee for daytime. Today, I'm sharing how I switched up my look for a fun girls night out for dinner!I traded my shorts for silky printed pants, sandals for shiny flats, and switched up my jewelry to add in more silver accents. I love the result! Fun, dressy, and still 100% comfortable!
