Inspired Style: Olive For Spring

Thursday, March 10, 2016

Premier Designs Jewelry: Sabrina earrings, Star Studded bracelet, Pistachio bracelet, Bands of Gold set, Marigold bracelet

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

It has been quite some time since I have done an Inspired Style post! This dining room came across my Pinterest feed recently and it just feels so fresh, perfect for spring; it's not often that you see olive green in an interior either. I love the mix of patterns in the room, and since I love mixing patterns I knew this would be fun to translate into outfit form. The true patterns come in through the stripes in the sandals and the printed scarf, but there are visual patterns in the eyelet sundress and the perforations in the earrings. I can picture this casual and pulled together look for almost any occasion this spring: errands, lunch with friends, or even date night! This scarf works around the neck, or loosely tied around the shoulder straps of the tote bag. With olive green having such a moment for a few seasons now, the lighter tone and unique style of this dress keep the trend fresh for spring. (Confession: In writing this, I have fallen in love with this dress, and I might have to get it for myself!)

Inspired Style: Classic

Premier Jewelry: Bombshell Necklace, Gold Crown Watch, & Marigold Bracelet

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

I saw this skirt at J. Crew Factory a while back, and thought it was so cute & perfect for fall. The stripes are right up my alley, and the wrap detail adds just the right touch of detail. This was a unique Inspired Style because I actually went searching for a room that I could design an outfit around that included this skirt! This classic bedroom is beautifully simple; the pattern on the floor is offset by rich tones of navy on the walls, and grounded by the beautiful wood floor. Paired with a simple blouse and cognac bag & heels, the skirt is the statement-maker of this outfit, just like the rug. Accents of gold make this outfit a classic fall look for the office.

Inspired Style: Tropical Punch

Monday, August 10, 2015

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

The bright, bold colors in the inspiration photo scream summer. As the August heat becomes more intense, keep your look simple by upgrading basics (tee, jeans, and your go-to neutral bag) with pops of tropical colors. This Premier necklace, called Tropical Punch, is a light piece that is perfect for throwing on over something as simple as your favorite tee. The mix of bright colors means it's an instant outfit maker! I could totally throw on this outfit for a trip to the movies, running errands, or happy hour drinks. But what I can't decide is what I love more, this versatile outfit or this fun kitchen!

Hope this Monday finds you well!

Inspired Style: Crisp Mint

Monday, May 18, 2015

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

The crispness of the combination of mint and navy is both classic and perfect for spring. I picture the back door of this inspiration space being opened up for a late spring cocktail party, and the outfit inspired by this space is exactly what I would wear to such a gathering. A soft yet lightweight sweater tops a pair of loose, flowy pants, the perfect combination for late spring weather. Espadrille wedges take it into summer, and perforations in the tote bag and earrings add a lightness and edge to the whole look. In the end, the outfit inspired by this space mimics the softness of the colors and the fabrics, the subtle prints, and the simplistic nature of this luxe living room.

Inspired Style: Bright Blooms

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

I was very intrigued by the mustard color of the bright blooms in the inspiration image, but I was worried I wasn't going to be able to translate it into outfit form. But then entered the LOFT blouse I raved about (and added to my closet) in this post that happened to be the perfect color! I picture this outfit being worn for shopping the farmers market on a casual spring weekend. A loosely tucked shirt, distressed jeans and a simple tote keep the outfit casual, while the pink accessories add just the right pop of color.

Where would you wear this fun casual outfit this spring? Are you daring enough to pull off mustard?

Inspired Style: Country Kitchen Charm

Monday, March 23, 2015

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

This beautiful kitchen has been hanging out on my Pinterest boards for awhile. I love the bright, colorful, and open-air feel of it. In my mind it looks like the perfect homey place to bake cookies with   family and leave the windows up to enjoy the spring air. Translated into outfit form, I picture a crisp white shirt paired with a flouncy midi skirt. Simple jewelry adds a personalized touch, just like mom's home cooking. A bright bag brings some freshness into the look, and cork wedges ground the outfit. In the end, you've got a flirty outfit with lots of country kitchen charm!

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

I love the beautiful rich colors in these Native American blankets, and since I'm spending this week back home out west I was easily inspired to turn these blankets into an outfit!

Just based on the colors of these blankets alone, there are a million different ways this outfit could go. Booties are the perfect shoe for this look, and the olive shirt is reflective of the outdoor landscape of the west. A navy skirt picks up on the blues in the blankets, and the embroidery on the bag adds a perfect handcrafted feel. Top it all off with this fun statement necklace that picks up on the rocky terrain and this outfit is good to go for a western-inspired date or walking around and exploring sights.

Hope y'all are having a great week! I certainly am! :)

Inspired Style: Copper

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

This would probably be my dream kitchen! Back in my first semester at FSU, when I had to re-take similar classes because my credits from SCAD weren't accepted, one of my projects featured this amazing copper bathtub that I fell in love with. That project started my love affair with copper, so you can see why this kitchen is on my love list--that pendent!!! :)

The outfit I pictured this kitchen turning into was one that exuded dressy casual, and I think this look is perfect for a trip out to brunch with the girls, running errands, etc. The necklace picks up all the colors in the outfit, creating a cohesive combo that's sure to please.

Where would you wear this look?

Happy Wednesday!

Inspired Style: Sweet Florals

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

I was drawn to the beautiful simplicity of the plates in this inspiration image, and inspired by the rich yet sweet & simple colors in them. Perfect for a Valentines Date Night, the outfit created in the style of these plates maintains that sweet simplicity. The color palette is transformed in the dress, where beautiful blooms add a hint of the coming spring to a long-sleeved dress. An un-fussy bag plays up on the corals in the dress. Finally, shoes and jewelry act as the gold rim of the plates, rounding out the look. Add a jacket and nude tights if the climate requires it, and you are set for a fun date night come February 14th!

Do you know what you're wearing on Valentines Day? What would be your dream outfit?

A foolproof, classic color combination will always been an monochromatic scheme. Here, I've added splashes of blue to my gray & silver palette, a perfectly icy combination for winter. And perfect for fending off the icy weather, especially when topped with this cozy wrap. You might recognize the wrap from this post... and now it's mine! Thanks Uncle Brad! :) I can't wait to style this wrap in other ways!

Inspired Style: Warmth

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

When I look at this bedroom, I am drawn to the depth of the colors, the overall warmth of the space, and at the same time I feel a sense of lightness about it. In outfit form, I captured the darkness in these amazing over the knee boots and matching tights. A navy fit-and-flare dress and gold & brown bracelets add a classic yet updated flair to the look, and the coziness and fun colors in the bedding is translated into a unique scarf, perfect for winter. Finally, the sense of lightness in the space is echoed in this beautiful cascading anorak jacket. The end result is an outfit perfect for strolling through the mall and shopping for last minute gifts, or catching coffee with your girlfriends on a brisk morning.

I recently picked up a sweater dress at my local TJMaxx, and then when browsing online stores for this post I came across a myriad of great sweater dress options, so I figured I'd share then with y'all!

Inspired Style: Fall Citrus

Tuesday, November 4, 2014

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

When I first saw this picture, I was drawn to the contrast of bold colors against the rich navy background. Lemons to me seem classic and iconic, yet this take on them is far more fall classic than a spring or summer classic. Perfect for this transitional period of the year, the perfect-for-fall plum pants are paired with warm peach toned flats. A classic striped top and playful bird scarf pull the look together. Add a set of sparkly bangles & a navy tote, and this outfit is perfect for running errands on a warm fall day!

I love these leaves! Beautiful fall colors abound, with a hint of dewy sparkle. In outfit form, coated green jeans and brown riding boots ground the outfit, while a tan sweater and patterned scarf add fun up top. Sparkly jewelry adds just the right sophisticated touch, and a wool hat tops off the whole ensemble. The end result is an outfit perfect for strolling through a park laden with fallen leaves. Oh, to dream. It won't be anywhere close to that in Florida anytime soon!

The bright and bold colors in this weathered door grab my attention. I picture this being somewhere in Italy, tucked away in a back alley behind a gelato shop. My outfit would have been perfect for my trip this summer to Europe (taking note for next summer...), with it's basic backdrop and pop of color in the accessories. The clutch was a gift from my mom, and it's by a brand called Comely that makes purses of out seat belts. Pretty cool stuff, and durable too! I have a bigger navy bag that has been with me for years, the same way this door has been with it's building. Well, maybe not as long as the door :)

Tank: LOFT (old) / Jeans: Joes (old; similar)
Jacket: Old Navy / Necklace: Premier Designs
Bracelets & Watch: a variety of places, old / Wedges: DSW (similar)

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

What I love about this interior space is how familiar it is. Like the couch at your parents house, it's comfortable in both look and feel. Yet somehow it still manages to look pulled together, even as the years go by. Well, hopefully! Drawing inspiration from the simple color palette, I also chose basic and simple pieces for my outfit. Together, they create something not-so-basic.

Inspired Style: Girly

Tank: LOFT / Skirt: souvenier from Germany (similar)
Wedges: DSW (similar) / Jewelry: Premier Designs

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

This interior screams girly. From the lush pink velvet couches to the ethereal sheer curtains, there is not one masculine element in the space. You could say the wood detail on the ceiling is the masculine counterpart, yet it's done with such elegance, and from it hangs a beautiful chandelier. In outfit form, I knew this white flowy skirt would be perfect to exemplify the space. A simple tank adds a pop of color, while a statement necklace mimics the chandelier. Cognac wedges ground the outfit, just as the wood ceiling tones down the feminine touches in the interior.

Have a fantastic Wednesday!

Inspired Style: Summer Casual

Inspiration: BuzzFeed

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

As summer reaches it's hottest points, all I can usually think about is comfy clothes, and staying in the AC as much as possible. Along those notes, I can picture myself curling up in this reading nook with a good book and some lemonade, not moving for hours as I discover a new world in a book. This was exactly how I spent many summer days as a kid, and still sometimes now.

The soft blues of the pillows led me to this relaxed color scheme of blue, green, and tan. The soft baseball tee (Gap) exudes comfort, much like the blanket & pillows in this space. Playful seahorse shorts (J. Crew Factory) add a playful touch, as does a fun patterned tote (Gap) for all your beach day essentials. Silver earrings and a watch (both Premier Designs) are all the accessories you need on a hot day. Finally, a nautical belt (Gap) and tan sandals (Payless) finish off the casual summery look.

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

The view of this dining room exude a sense of vibrant luxury. From the chic beige stripes, to the rich navy wallpaper, the luxurious velvet curtains, and the glitzy chandelier, I can imagine brunches being held here. The colors in this classy space scream summery cheer, without sacrificing style.Obviously this dress (Gap) matches the space perfectly; they were meant to be together. A yellowy-chartruse bag (DSW) adds a nice pop of color, while the structured style keeps it classic. Navy wedges (Nordstrom), not lacking in style, make the outfit more relaxed for a summer brunch. A sparkly pair of earrings and coordinating bracelet (both Premier Designs) add just the right touch of sparkle.

Inspired Style: Relaxed Elegance

Inspiration: DDD's Inspiration Station via Pinterest

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

I love the modern yet rustic feel this outdoor space has. I can picture soothing coffee in the morning with a great view, a lunch on the veranda, and relaxed get togethers with friends at night happening in this space. When translated into outfit form, descriptors that come to mind are elegant but relaxed, rustic but modern, and eclectic.

This dress (Piperlime) was my initial pick of this outfit; It perfectly embodies the "relaxed elegance" vibe in the space, plus the ombre hemline is really awesome! Simple flat sandals with woven straps (Anthropologie) echo the earth tones and add a rustic flair. A bohemian macramé tote in black (Anthropologie) keeps the outfit from looking too fussy, and transitions from day to night with ease. Finally, a long tassel lariat necklace (Bauble Bar) adds just the right finishing touch.

Some additional sandal options (because I have a fresh pedicure and want my toes peeking out of cute shoes!):
