Inspired Style: Leaves

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Photo Inspiration Source

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

I love these leaves! Beautiful fall colors abound, with a hint of dewy sparkle. In outfit form, coated green jeans and brown riding boots ground the outfit, while a tan sweater and patterned scarf add fun up top. Sparkly jewelry adds just the right sophisticated touch, and a wool hat tops off the whole ensemble. The end result is an outfit perfect for strolling through a park laden with fallen leaves. Oh, to dream. It won't be anywhere close to that in Florida anytime soon!

Like New

As you can tell, my blog got a little makeover yesterday! Adrien over at Adrien Designs has a great eye for style, and if you're a blogger you should definitely check her out. Great service too! :)

In addition to wanting to change up my blog design, there are some other things on my mind right now...
1) I'm actually kinda sorta really homesick for fall in Colorado. It might be a short season (especially because they've already gotten snow!) but it's still a beautiful time of year to go on a hike. The aspen trees are my favorite part... they light up the skyline like nothing you've ever seen before! Absolutely gorgeous. If you are in Colorado or heading that way soon, check out this list of great fall hikes. (Photo Credit) 2) After coming across this picture of the lovely Carrie Underwood, I think I want a fun floppy fall hat like everyone seems to be rocking! 3) Remember last fall when I dyed my hair darker with red undertones? I'm ready to do it again! Inspired by this photo, changing up my hair color is definitely in the cards very very soon.

Now, in a perfect world, I'd be wandering around Colorado, with a cute fall hat on my darker red hair.
Hey, a girl can dream, right?!

LBD: Three Ways

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Recently I scored a great deal on eBay of a Victoria's Secret dress I was eyeing at. While I didn't need another LBD (I already had two!), my hope was that this new one would be able to replace both--be dressy when it needs to be and casual when I want to relax.

The verdict? Winner! I love the conservative neckline with a knot decoration at the waist, and the scoop back that can easily be covered up with a cute blazer. The gold zipper adds a fun touch too! Out go the old LBD's!

Five Friday Favorites

Friday, March 21, 2014

It's been a pretty busy week coming back from spring break, and I already have a lot more schoolwork on my "to-do" list. It just never ends! But the spring air is rejuvenating and the sunshine makes everything better!

Here's what happened in my world this week:

1. I dressed up like a leprechaun for St. Patrick's Day!

2. We turned in our cardboard chairs in my Furniture Design class! Such a relief! But look at how much they take over the hallway, and that's only about 2/3 of them. It will be exciting to drop them off to the elementary school next week and see the children's reactions!
3. I rocked my new tee from GAP and repeated the necklace I wore on St. Paddy's Day, just because it is that cute!
4.  MY BROTHER GOT IN TO FSU!!!!!!! He will be joining me here in the fall, and I'm so excited!!!

5. This outfit inspired me! Found in the March edition Ladies Home Journal, I love the mix of patterns that still remain in the same two colors, black & white.

That's all for now! I'll be spending my weekend taking care of some car issues and doing homework... What are your plans for the first official weekend of spring?

Straw Fedoras & My History With Hats

Monday, March 10, 2014

I've always thought I'm not one of those people that can wear hats. They just seem to look "off" on me. Perhaps that's just my acute attention to detail kicking in, or maybe I really can't pull them off. Regardless, I think they can be styled really well, and give an outfit a little extra je ne sais quoi.

When I studied at SCAD in Savannah, I actually owned a hat and wore it a couple times (that is a big deal for me!). Lucky for you, I dug up picture evidence.

Looking back I actually like the overall look I was going for with this outfit. Maybe not that skirt, but in general I love the flowy, spring & summer casual vibe you get from this outfit. It inspires me to revisit the classic warm-weather staple, the straw fedora.

For inspiration on how to style these easy-going hats, I turn to my fellow bloggers.

I love how Emily from Bows and Depos styled her fedora here and here.

Jade from A Spoonful of Style rocks her fedora two ways here and here

I don't know about you, but I'm ready to put on a straw fedora and sit by the beach! I'm still in Tallahassee for another day or so before I head to the beach to see Kyle.
Have a great day, my stylish readers!
