Wedding Wednesday: If I Wasn't Wearing Boots

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

It's been awhile since a Wedding Wednesday post, since I'm keeping many of the planning details to myself for now, but I thought today we'd talk about something fun: wedding day shoes! I've shared with y'all that I'm wearing cowboy boots on my wedding day, but I got to thinking the other day, what would I wear if it wasn't boots? So I've rounded up several gorgeous heels that I would totally consider if I wasn't so dead set on boots!

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

While these are all gorgeous options, my favorites would have to be the rose gold Badly Mischka number (it would totally match my ring!), the nude lace pair by Dune London (perfect for a sweet spring time wedding), and I am kinda digging the sultry edginess of the lacey shooties by L.K. Bennett

What shoes did you wear on your wedding day? Or what do you plan on wearing?

Fall Fashion

Monday, September 7, 2015

Shop My Picks: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 /

Now that September is here, and I'm getting tired of walking to class in the gross humidity, I am looking forward to fall fashion! This fall, I'm excited to break out my cozy cardigans and ponchos, as well as my vests. I'm also the owner of now two denim shirt dresses, and I think they will look great styled for fall with leggings and booties. {I've linked some great options for both cozy toppers and dresses, and you can see how I styled the pieces this past winter in this post.} As far as expanding my fall wardrobe, I'm in love with the idea of getting a striped long sleeve to layer under sweaters, vests, and more. You'd think with my love for stripes that I'd already have one, but alas I don't! My personal favorite is this one from LOFT

Suede is a big trend this fall, and I started noticing on the racks this summer while I was in Italy. I love the idea of it, but I'm not 100% sure if I would be able to pull it off. There are a ton of great suede pieces out there, but these two skirts caught my eye. I can picture them with a chunky sweater, or paired with a long sleeve tee and military vest.

Do you plan on adding some on-trend suede pieces this fall? How will you style them?

Falling in Love with Pantone

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

As a Premier Jewelry Lady, a fashion-lover in general and and interior architecture student, it's important for me to keep up with the latest color trends. And I can easily say that this fall's Pantone colors are some of my favorite colors! They reflect my personal style well, which means that I'm going to be able to find some fantastic new pieces to add to my wardrobe this season (but just a few, I'm still wanting to keep up the minimalist wardrobe I had over the summer).

Today I'm rounding up some of my favorite pieces I've seen just through clicking "New Arrivals" from store emails. I have a lot of navy colors already in my wardrobe, as well as some greens of the Dried Herb/ Desert Sage variety that I'm obsessed with currently. I have a hard time wearing purples, pinks, and oranges so those will probably stay out this season for me personally. But I am intrigued by Oak Buff and I definitely want to add some more Marsala-esque tones to my collection for fall!

LOFT Painted Tank -- I love the combination of all the colors that this blouse provides! A one-stop-shop for fall trends! I can see this working as a great top for office-to-date night looks.
J. Crew Factory Striped Tee -- Part Marsala, part Cadmium Orange, part Oak Buff, this would be a great piece to step out of my color comfort zone with. Whenever you are trying something new, it's best to take it slow.
Audrey Brooke Reptile Flats -- A fun texture, I could see these flats paired with the LOFT tank and black skinnies or the striped tee and rolled-hem jeans for a more casual look.
J. Crew Factory Shirtdress -- I'm in love with this color! And the shirtdress trend; so comfortable and an easy look. Pair with a scarf and some boots and you're set for cooler temps!
LOFT Cargo Pants -- I don't know why, since I've never really owned cargo pants and this color is something totally different for me, but I am in love with these pants from LOFT! I want to try them on soon to see if it's really love at first sight or not. I love that sometimes with fashion you can surprise yourself by what interests you.
Premier Designs "Double Your Fun" Necklace -- A great Marsala stone that flips over to a grey/neutral stone makes this necklace a great go-to for all your fall Pantone color needs.

What colors from Pantone's picks for fall strike your fancy? What about fall fashion is getting you excited for cooler temperatures? Happy Tuesday, loves!

Spring Shopping at LOFT

Thursday, April 30, 2015

While out running errands yesterday for last minute things for my trip, I decided to pop on in to LOFT when I saw they we having an amazing sale... Everything in stores yesterday was 50% off, and now they've made that a thing online today! In the spirit of celebrating my last test of finals week, I took a lot into the dressing room, but the things below are some of my favorites.

White Fluid Tee: I loved the drape of this top, but even at the smallest size it was just a little too big for my frame. But the quality is amazing, so I definitely reccommend checking it out. I loved that it wasn't see through!

Black and White Striped Romper: Love the two tone aspect to this romper! I tried this on in a petite version (that was all I could find in my store). Sometimes I can do petite tops because of my shorter torso, but never can I do a long sleeve in petite due to my long arms. Exhibit A being this romper.... I think it's supposed to be long sleeved! But regardless it's still cute, although not 100% the best fit for me so there it stayed. (FYI, I think this might be an in-store exclusive, as I couldn't find it online to link to!)

Button Pocket Utility Blouse & Floral Riviera Shorts: This top is the only thing I brought home with me! The cut was perfect (it's a petite but because I would probably not ever wear it as a long sleeved shirt I'm okay with that!) and I love the color. The shorts were cute, love the neutral print, but they just didn't fit quite right.

Striped Slubbed Sweater & Cotton Twill Riviera Shorts: The softness of this lightweight sweater is what brought it to the dressing room with me, and the color paired perfectly with these military green shorts! Neither piece felt 100% perfect at the time, but that doesn't mean my mind won't change. I'm trying to be much better about only buying what I truly love and get really excited about right away.

Damask Fluid Tee: I had included this blouse in my Shorts and Spring Tops post the other week, and I was excited for it to be in-store and in my size. But I wasn't loving it on. It looked a little funny (and too loose!) untucked, but tucked it makes my shoulders look broad in my opinion. Maybe I just didn't have it paired with the right bottoms, but I decided to pass.

So those were my thoughts, but I would definitely recommend you head on over to LOFT and check out the sale, 50% off with code HALFSIES. I hope you are having a happy Thursday! I'm spending the day packing and trying to take it easy since I feel a little cold coming on.. boo!

Rose Gold Picks

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

I have always loved rose gold, thus why I wanted my engagement ring to be rose gold. I love the uniqueness that rose gold has to offer! While I have some rose gold pieces, I'd love a few more pieces now that I am wearing rose gold everyday. I especially would love pieces with a mix of metals, so that tri-tone bracelet pictured here is definitely my top pick!

Do you wear rose gold? What is your favorite metal?

Shorts & Spring Tops

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my post yesterday afternoon about getting my ring back from being sized and shopping for spring tops. Lately the weather here in north Florida has been so hot and sticky, and in getting ready every morning I've been noticing a lack of cute flowy tops in my closet. My choices seem to mostly consist of long sleeved tops/sweaters and basic tees... not very much in between! So after picking up my ring, I decided to pop into a couple places in the mall to scan for sales. I also had a return to make at Old Navy, and then over the weekend I had seen this cute blouse at Bass Pro Shops while shopping with my brother and I decided to take a second look.

No luck at the mall, but I picked up this blouse at Old Navy and then I went home with the peachy one from Bass Pro!

Another thing I realized quite quickly yesterday was that the shorts I was wearing really need to go. As I've gotten older, I've realized how much I really just don't care for short shorts. I realize I am still quite young, only 22, and I know I have the legs for shorter shorts... but I honestly am not comfortable sitting in them, and I think my legs look longer in longer shorts!

I remember reading an article in a fashion magazine years ago about choosing shorts to fit you, and how to figure out what inseam works with your body type. After fussing with mine all afternoon, I decided to make a little assessment when I got home, keeping that article in mind. In the pink ones, my 3" J. Crew chino's, the hem sits at the widest part of my thigh. When your shorts hit at the widest part of your thigh, it affects the way your torso looks, the way your legs look... long story short, you end up looking a lot shorter than you are! As you can see in the pictures, my 4" cobalt J. Crew chino's and my mint jean shorts are much better. They hit right where the thigh is starting to slim down, which creates a more elongated look. As a result, I look taller in both overall height and torso height.

So out with the old short shorts, and I'll be keeping my eye out for some new longer pairs post-Europe. A few that have already caught my eye...

I'm enjoying the warming weather for sure, but I wish the humidity would go away! Is spring starting where you are? Are you having to adapt your wardrobe?

Mule Sandals

Thursday, April 2, 2015

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Flipping through the latest InStyle Magazine the other day, I kept seeing pictures of mule sandals looking so cute and trendy! So I took a little shopping break and found some cute ones at a variety of price points.
My favorites are the navy and chartreuse pair from Calvin Klein and the light blue suede pair by Seychelles; I think both are fun options for spring and would look so cute with dresses and skirts!

Have you hopped on the mule sandal bandwagon? Or will you?

Spring Launches

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

One of the things I love about spring are the new spring styles that hit stores... the colors, the patterns, and the textures all seem so fresh and new after the winter season. Today, I'm sharing some springtime launches that you are going to love!

Shop Ruche
I am always referencing the cute clothes from ShopRuche.com in my posts, and their new Spring Lookbook "Capture the Moment" launched yesterday without disappoint. Some of my favorite picks?

Lillian Eve
Ever since I came across Lillian Eve through a daily deals website, I've been hooked. I was waiting for their new spring colors to come out, and yesterday the Just Breathe Collection launched and I am so in love with every single color!! Without a doubt I am ordering Nothing But Nude and Bliss! Make sure to check out their other polishes, including their Hologram Collection and my other favorite color, Ballet Slipper.

What are you excited to add to your spring wardrobe? Do you like to bring the spring spirit out via clothes or via nails/makeup?

Shoe Love is True Love

Monday, March 2, 2015

The age old question... Do I really need to spend the money on these shoes? I struggle with this all the time--I love shoes! Today I'm sharing some recent obsessions, some shoe "holes" I'm wanting to fill in my closet.

* I'd love some fun coral flats to add some spring into my every-day shoe collection
* For my study abroad this summer, I'm in search of some cute by comfy casual shoes to walk around in on days I don't want to wear sandals. I'm leaning towards something in the tan range, because my color palette is going to be black/tan/navy/red/cobalt/grey/white. Anyone who has traveled abroad have any tips here?! I'll be in Italy and then Scotland and France for sure, who knows where else!
* I've had my eye on black booties for awhile, and I think I've finally settled on a pair!
* While I don't need any more heels or booties, I really want something new and springy in this area.

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

Anyone want to give me shoe money? No? Darn. I guess I'll have to figure something else out... lol :)

Happy Monday!

Spring

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

One of my favorite online boutiques is having a great sale right now, along with some fresh spring arrivals! I love these colorful, printed, and classic pieces that will transfer from the last moments of winter into spring, even summer. Each piece has beautiful details: from the scalloped trim on the skirt, to the lace overlay on the booties, to the embroidery on the skinny pants.

Now through February 6th, you can take $30 off $100 with code HERES30 and $60 off $200 with code HERES60. How is that for a great deal to update your closet for spring?! What updates do you plan on making to you wardrobe for spring?

2015 Goals Update & Sustainability

Monday, February 2, 2015

You may recall that on the first of the year, I shared my goals for 2015. Now that we are over a month in, I thought I'd share a little bit about how it's going!

One of my goals was to workout for a minimum of 10 minutes every day... I was going strong for so long, but this is definitely a challenge. I thought 10 minutes a day would be easy! It is in actuality, and even though there are enough minutes in the day for it I still manage to flat out forget. But the upside of this goal is that I have been running more, which I love. So steps in the right direction!

Another goal of mine was to read 12 books this year and I'm almost done with my first book, so since February is a short month I'll either have to read fast or pick a skinny book! :) I'm not going to stress myself over this one, because the whole point was for me to just read more fun books. Again, steps in the right direction.

I also have developed a new goal: be more sustainability conscious. I'm in a class right now called Sustainability in Design, and to start the semester we've just been going over sustainability in the broad sense. Being from Colorado, I have always been a recycler, been aware of the beauty of nature and understood why we need to protect it, among other things. But I think that since moving to Florida, where there is not the same attitude across the entire state, I've slacked a bit. I'd like to get back on track, and one side of that is that I have always wanted to be more sustainable in what I wear. I think that this can occur in several ways...

1. Buying more things used. You all know I already love eBay, but I'd like to actively remember to try local resale shops more often.
2. Speaking of local... shop local! I'd love to spend my money in places (or on pieces) that were made or sold locally.
3. Spend money on things that will last. I think as fashionistas we frequently get drawn to "fast fashion" and cheap trendy pieces. Which is fun, yes, but it's not a great habit for the environment. Part of this for me means really thinking about what I'm buying, and think about how long it will stay in my closet rotation. Even if it's on clearance, is it really worth the money if I won't love it for months upon months.
4. Donate, don't trash, old clothes. This is something I already do, but I included it anyway. It's always better to donate old clothes to those in need, instead of tossing them in the trash to end up in a landfill.
5. Purchase sustainable clothing. It used to be that "green" or eco-friendly clothing was either expensive, or not very fashionable. To some degree, it is still a little bit out of my college-student price range, but there are a fair amount of affordable and fashionable lines now that offer sustainable clothing. I've compiled some great pieces from just a few for you here...

We'll see how this goes! I'm excited to see how these goals progress through the year, and will keep you all updated. If any readers like to lead a sustainable life, I'd love some tips shared in the comments! :)

Five Friday Favorites

Friday, January 30, 2015

Yet another week has gone by, and now we are at the end of January... The month has flown by! It's been kind of a crazy week (what else is new?) but this time I mean like really crazy! Why? Read on...

1. I have been trying a new skin regimen, adding these two products over last weekend, and I'm definitely seeing a difference! I've also been getting facial peels at the Ulta salon, which have been helping. I just got a couple new moisturizing products in the mail from InstaNatural, so I'm excited to start adding those in. Yay for fresh, clear, toxin-free skin!

(And this is where the craziness starts...)
2. Tuesday I was sick with a cold, and even though I didn't want to be in class, we found out that our big project's due date was extended! A little happiness in the midst of a pile of tissues for sure. I took the afternoon off and rested and went to bed so early, exactly what I needed.

3. So I wake up on Wednesday feeling great, much much better, and I'm excited to face the day... until my car doesn't start. AAA came (bless them!) and my battery took a recharge after I drove it around town (thank goodness!). That whole ordeal, plus taking it to the shop just to have the battery re-checked, caused me to miss two classes, but I made it to my last one and at the end of it all managed to have a good day still. But man, that was not what I wanted to do on my first day over being sick! I don't know what caused my battery to die, but I'm just glad it took a recharge and all is good now.

4. I splurged (well, everything was marked down at a great price so splurged is a relative term!) and bought the bag I mentioned in this post, as well as a few others (shop similar Kenneth Cole here, and actual wallet here). When in Rome, rather, Stein Mart!

5. In the midst of all this craziness, I've been missing Kyle. I just need a date night with my man to take away some of the stress! I'll see him soon to celebrate our 6-year anniversary (like what?!) but that seems so far away!

SO that's been my crazy week, I hope you all have had a good one, and cheers to the weekend!

Working Out Is Cute

Thursday, January 29, 2015

Inspired by yesterday's post (also because I'm writing this while sick, relaxing in bed, and because I got an Athleta catalog in the mail) I started shopping for workout wear online, and there are some fun picks out there! I'm a firm believer in that working out should be fun, no matter what you do, and part of that is having fun clothes that make you excited about going to the gym. These definitely take the cake, and can easily work for that "athleisure" trend. My favorites are these linen pants (I have a pair I wear all the time!) and the cut-out top from Alo (you could totally wear this not to the gym!).

What do you like to wear to the gym? Any favorite brands?

Pastel Bags & Striped Flats

Monday, January 26, 2015

I say it all the time at my Premier parties-- updating your accessories is the best way to stretch your wardrobe. Recently, I have been feeling like it might be time for a new handbag, something fun and new to update my outfits. I haven't purchased a new handbag in awhile, so I think I'm due for one! I'm loving all the pastel colors I'm seeing for spring, and I think a pastel handbag is just what I need. All of mine are great basic colors, but I need something fun yet versatile.

In addition, I have noticed just how much I've worn my leopard flats, which I was originally hesitant to buy. So now I'm wondering how a striped pair would manage in my closet... Pickings are a little slim right now (I'm very particular about the comfort level of shoes), but I'm hoping as summer approaches maybe we'll see more striped flats on the shelves!

Is there anything you've been wanting to add to your closet lately?
How often do you buy new bags and shoes?

Marsala: Home Decor Edition

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Last week, I shared my tips, tricks, and shopping picks for adding Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala, into your closet. Today, I'm sharing how you can add accents of this rich, burnt wine tone into your home! A great classic color, Marsala on it's own exudes elegance, but can be made playful in a heartbeat. If you are timid about spending money on new home accents, try adding a Marsala pillow or votive holder. Ready to commit to this classic color? Try a side chair or accent lighting! And for coffee lovers, Marsala can greet you every morning with a tasty brew in your coordinating mug.

Would you add Marsala to your home? How often do you switch up your home decor?

Five Friday Favorites: Holiday Survival & Guy Gifts

Friday, December 19, 2014

As you read this post, Kyle and I are enjoying a 3-day cruise to the Bahamas! So in the spirit of something new and exciting, I'm switching up today's Five Friday Favorites to share some things that I cannot go through the holiday season without...

Christmas movies. White Christmas is hands-down my favorite holiday movie, and definitely makes my overall favorite movies list. You can't go wrong with great songs, dancing, and Bing Crosby's blue eyes! A close second on the holiday front is the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas, which my family and I usually watch while we decorate the Christmas tree. Coincidentally, it is also my favorite Christmas book, which my dad used to read to me nearly every night in December growing up.
Snow. You can take the girl out of Colorado but you can't take Colorado out of the girl! I might have moved away for school to get a break from the cold, but I do love a good snowfall. There is nothing in the world like waking up to see a fresh blanket of snow covering your lawn.
A good book & soft blanket. The Christmas season always means a break from school, and therefore a time to relax and catch up on reading for fun! My favorite thing to do is cuddle up on the couch, book in hand, with a blanket and hopefully a cuddly kitty on my lap. I just finished One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus (absolutely phenomenal!), and I'm about to start Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
Making new traditions. Because Kyle and I have been dating so long, we've started to develop our own little holiday traditions which I love. It's definitely an adjustment; this year I'm trying to spend parts of Christmas with both him and my family back in Colorado, by spending Eve with one and Day with the other! Some might think it's crazy, trying to do both, but to me it's important to make new traditions while still keeping up with the old ones.
Hot chocolate. It doesn't matter what flavor it is, as long as it's hot, in a big mug, and has a peppermint stirrer in it! Sometimes the best things in life are the simple things.

Usually one of the biggest obstacles in "surviving" the holiday season is getting something for everyone on your list. As a woman, I know how easy it is to get gifts for other women. Sparkles? She'll love it! Gift card to her favorite store? Perfect! Anything spa or pampering related? Best gift ever! But shopping for guys? Guys are hard to give gifts too! A man can only have so many socks, ties, watches, games, shaving kits, cologne, etc... But what else is there? Enter Man Crates, who self proclaim that...

We say 'no' to ugly neckties, cologne samplers and executive trinkets.
We don't save wrapping paper, we don't do ribbons.
We ship bragworthy gifts for guys.
Gifts that you can't wait to arrive because you know the recipient will love opening them.
Gifts that people gather round at the office, people following the sounds of wood being torn from wood by the included, laser-engraved crowbar.
We are Man Crates, and we deliver awesome gifts for men.

Man Crates provides a unique gift option for guys that will have them talking about it for weeks! From a Zombie Suppression Crate, to a Hickory Grilling Crate, and everything in between, Man Crates is sure to have something for every man on your gift list this year! They even have an Exotic Meats Jerkygram, and gifts that come in ammo cans like the Ammo Can Poker Set. While I already picked out gifts for the guys on my list, something tells me someone will be getting one of these sometime soon!

I hope the holiday season is finding you and your family healthy & happy. Wishing a happy weekend and happy last minute shopping, my lovely readers. I'm looking forward to sharing cruise details with you next week!

Inspired Style: Warmth

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

When I look at this bedroom, I am drawn to the depth of the colors, the overall warmth of the space, and at the same time I feel a sense of lightness about it. In outfit form, I captured the darkness in these amazing over the knee boots and matching tights. A navy fit-and-flare dress and gold & brown bracelets add a classic yet updated flair to the look, and the coziness and fun colors in the bedding is translated into a unique scarf, perfect for winter. Finally, the sense of lightness in the space is echoed in this beautiful cascading anorak jacket. The end result is an outfit perfect for strolling through the mall and shopping for last minute gifts, or catching coffee with your girlfriends on a brisk morning.

1 / 2 / 3 /
I recently picked up a sweater dress at my local TJMaxx, and then when browsing online stores for this post I came across a myriad of great sweater dress options, so I figured I'd share then with y'all!

Not So Basic

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

Sperry Topsider Booties / Charming Charlies Purse
Nine West Sunnies / Premier Designs Jewelry

This was what I wore Sunday for breakfast on the pier with Kyle after he got off work. I know as women we always try to dress up for our significant others, despite of course the fact that many guys don't care for all that fluff. This outfit is a great compromise: basic jeans, t shirt, and sweater, but with the infusion of style through accessories. An orange bag, gold & garnet statement necklace, and suede booties up the ante on a basic outfit, the perfect combination for a Sunday morning in a beach town.
You can't really see it in the picture (it took enough convincing for him to just take one picture!) but my bag is a beautiful burnt orange color. Back when I first started my blog, I posted about this bag, because it is without a doubt my favorite purse. It goes with surprisingly more than I ever would have thought, and the color transcends all seasons. I've pulled together some similar options for you, under $50, under $170, and a designer version if you're wanting to spend a little more.
Have a great Tuesday, my friends!
