Wedding Wednesday: If I Wasn't Wearing Boots

It's been awhile since a Wedding Wednesday post, since I'm keeping many of the planning details to myself for now, but I thought today we'd talk about something fun: wedding day shoes! I've shared with y'all that I'm wearing cowboy boots on my wedding day, but I got to thinking the other day, what would I wear if it wasn't boots? So I've rounded up several gorgeous heels that I would totally consider if I wasn't so dead set on boots!

While these are all gorgeous options, my favorites would have to be the rose gold Badly Mischka number (it would totally match my ring!), the nude lace pair by Dune London (perfect for a sweet spring time wedding), and I am kinda digging the sultry edginess of the lacey shooties by L.K. Bennett.

Mule Sandals

Flipping through the latest InStyle Magazine the other day, I kept seeing pictures of mule sandals looking so cute and trendy! So I took a little shopping break and found some cute ones at a variety of price points. 

My favorites are the navy and chartreuse pair from Calvin Klein and the light blue suede pair by Seychelles; I think both are fun options for spring and would look so cute with dresses and skirts!

Shoe Love is True Love

The age old question... Do I really need to spend the money on these shoes? I struggle with this all the time--I love shoes! Today I'm sharing some recent obsessions, some shoe "holes" I'm wanting to fill in my closet.

* I'd love some fun coral flats to add some spring into my every-day shoe collection

* For my study abroad this summer, I'm in search of some cute by comfy casual shoes to walk around in on days I don't want to wear sandals. I'm leaning towards something in the tan range, because my color palette is going to be black/tan/navy/red/cobalt/grey/white. Anyone who has traveled abroad have any tips here?! I'll be in Italy and then Scotland and France for sure, who knows where else!

* I've had my eye on black booties for awhile, and I think I've finally settled on a pair!

* While I don't need any more heels or booties, I really want something new and springy in this area.

Dreaming Of Shoes

Heels: Caged / Lace Up / Ankle Strap

It has recently occurred to me that I am getting a little bored with my clothes, and that it might be time to update some pieces, as well as incorporate some new styles. One of the areas I'm thinking is in need of an update about is my shoe collection. As far as heels go, I've got great black pumps & nude pumps, a dated pair of patchwork mauve pumps, and dressy gold-ish heeled sandals. That's it! Nothing special, considering I wear heels fairly frequently for sorority events. Now to my flats--I was getting ready for an interior design event the other day when I realized that I really wanted some brown flats to go with my outfit, yet I had absolutely none in my closet! Especially with fall around the corner, I believe this might need to change. I've done some shopping around, so we will see if my dreams can become a reality!

Re-Discovery

Years ago we used to shop at Payless for shoes for my brother and I. Because of their great prices, it's the perfect place to buy kids shoes, especially when they are growing like nobody's business. I've found my way into Payless every once and awhile over the years, but never really got hooked again. Not for any particular reason, I just kind of forgot about Payless.

While in Daytona the other week, we were walking around this shopping center and ended up inside Payless, and I was pleasantly surprised! I forgot that they had a phenomenal selection of shoes for small-footed people (I wear a 5/5.5, so I have to do a lot of my shoe buying online and take chances ordering)! Also, can we talk about their prices for a minute?! Holy cow! Especially for a fashionista like myself, and someone who will get rid of shoes if they don't prove to be comfortable after a couple wears, the prices are a great excuse to try a new style, or take a chance on a bold color. All of these are under $50!

Five Friday Favorites: 4th of July Edition

I'm so glad I got to spend this time in Daytona with Kyle before I leave for Europe. It's going to be hard to be in another country, across the ocean, and not able to text or call as easily because of time changes. But it's only for about two weeks, so we will survive. Any way, here is what went on this week!

1. I'm a sucker for clouds, and while Kyle and I were walking around The Pavilion Shopping Center before our movie, I spotted this formation in the sky. SO COOL! I think in another life I was a weather girl :)

2. Kyle and I drove around Winter Park, FL (near Orlando) for a bit the other day. I'd been wanting to check out the area for awhile, because that's where a lot of the interior design firms I have my eye on are located. I wanted to see if it's a nice area, how fast I could get there from the Port Orange area, etc. The result of our investigations? It's such a lovely area! We walked around this little Park Ave/Downtown area with all these great shops (Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma-- I was in heaven!) and restaurants. It was so hot outside, but it was so fun! Definitely an area that would be fun to work in post-graduation.

3. I went to the St. Augustine Outlets while Kyle was on an overtime shift, as detailed in this post, and I had a hard time deciding what color of shoe to buy at Nine West! (I went with the ivory.)

4. Nothing is better than a little beach-side reading! 

5. And, last but not least, Happy 4th of July! Thank you to all the men and women who serve our country, past, present, and future! I'd also like to shout out to all the other public service men and women who don't get to spend holidays like this with their families, including police, doctors, nurses, EMT's, and of course firefighters (Kyle has to work today too). Their service is crucial for our society to function on a daily basis. I hope y'all enjoy your day spent with family & friends!

Tulle Skirts & Lace-Up Heels

Hi y'all! Sorry I went MIA for a couple days... I flew to CO to see my little brother graduate high school (yay! he did it!) and things just got a little crazy on my end. It was really such a treat to be home and spend time with my family, even if it was a short visit. 

Like my trip home, I'm keeping today's post simple & sweet, just sharing with y'all a couple things I've been seeing in the Pinterest world and blogosphere that have captured my attention recently: tulle skirts & lace-up heels! Worn together or separate, these two are awesome statement pieces to have in your closet, yet both are incredibly versatile!

I Fought The Urge

I know I don't typically post on Saturday's but I just had to share a little something with y'all.

I have two stores online that I have put things in my cart. One of these was DSW, where I had a really cute pair of black flats I found on super clearance, only left in my size, which will replace an uncomfortable pair of black flats I already own. I also had a beautiful ankle-strap heel I had fallen in love with and added to my cart because there were ONLY 4 LEFT! (thanks DSW for the pressure!).

This morning I checked the stock and they were down to ONLY 2 LEFT! so I started filling out the rest of the order fields. Before I completed and hit submit however, I stopped myself. I said, (no joke, I legitimately spoke out loud to myself)...

Caroline Nicole... what are you doing? You are trying to be better about impulse buys! Do you need these? No. Anything you would wear these with you could wear nude or black heels with. No that's not as fun, but you are trying to save money. This is why you can never save money, because you shop by the seat of your pants!

So before I could change my mind, I deleted the heels from my shopping cart, quickly finished checking out, closed my computer and walked away. I stood up against my strong shopper psyche!!! And I have to say, it feels good. Sure I am sad I have to see the heels go, because let's be real, by the time I have the money my size probably won't be in stock.  But I will survive. They weren't and aren't a necessity. I'll be happier when I have more money to go visit my friend in Nashville this summer, or when I can buy pretty things for my new apartment, or when I go to the first FSU game of the fall in Dallas.

After all, the pair I did end up buying is really so cute and practical. And my total was less than $25!

Just For Kicks

I was taking a break from homework over the weekend, and while perusing Pinterest I came across these awesome gold polka dot sneakers from Kate Spade for Keds. Super cute! I'm not really a sneakers girl, but after looking at some more cute options from Keds... I might have to become one! These are my favorite ones, each with a subtle pattern to add just enough interest.
