Stripes & Leather

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Happy November!!!

I love this leather skirt I picked up on sale at LOFT last fall/winter, but it's only been worn a handful of times. Like the beautiful coat I got over the summer, this is one of those pieces I love so much but am unsure of how it fits into my daily life now, especially as a college student. But I think I've styled this skirt today in such a way that makes it wearable for a day of classes. The simple striped tee and comfy Toms flats help relax such a trendy & structured skirt. And of course, jewelry brings the whole look together, especially with the Marsala/wine colored accents. :)

How else would you style this skirt for casual wear?

Marsala: Home Decor Edition

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Last week, I shared my tips, tricks, and shopping picks for adding Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala, into your closet. Today, I'm sharing how you can add accents of this rich, burnt wine tone into your home! A great classic color, Marsala on it's own exudes elegance, but can be made playful in a heartbeat. If you are timid about spending money on new home accents, try adding a Marsala pillow or votive holder. Ready to commit to this classic color? Try a side chair or accent lighting! And for coffee lovers, Marsala can greet you every morning with a tasty brew in your coordinating mug.

Would you add Marsala to your home? How often do you switch up your home decor?

Marsala: Closet Edition

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

As you might be aware, Pantone released the Color of the Year for 2015: Marsala, a beautiful burnt wine color. I have a few pieces from my own closet featuring this stunning color, but I'd love to add more! While Marsala is a trend, it is also a very classic color that will stand the test of time. This is a great color to buy investment pieces in; such as a classic pencil skirt or sophisticated heel. If you are unsure about Marsala, try a cute and simple cross body bag, or a detailed tee.

How will you incorporate Marsala into your closet? Are you excited to wear this color in 2015?
