Color Crush: Coral, Mint, & Navy

Thursday, May 22, 2014

The combination of coral, mint, and navy is fun & on-trend, yet remarkably classic. Together or separate, these colors are sure to show up in your closet this spring and summer. Below are some picks that I am keeping in mind to add to my closet.

A little story behind some of these items:
--I recently bought a pair of linen pants, and I have been wanting to wear them daily! They are so comfortable for the summer, especially for me as my classroom is cold but by the time class is over it's hot in Tally. So another pair is on my wish list.
--While shopping at the mall in Daytona while on vacation, I found myself in Sears, trying on the drapey tee you see here. I bought it in black, and the fit is amazing! Boxy or drapey tops don't always flatter me, but this one does, and the price can't be beat... $9!
--The striped moto jacket you see here was also a random dressing room try-on in Daytona, at Dillard's. There, they had it on clearance for just under $50. I loved it, didn't need it, and didn't love the price so I put it aside. After checking online through several different stores to see if I could find one for cheaper, I only found them for more expensive! Now I'm wishing I had scooped it up!

Inspired Style: Relaxed Elegance

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Inspiration: DDD's Inspiration Station via Pinterest

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

I love the modern yet rustic feel this outdoor space has. I can picture soothing coffee in the morning with a great view, a lunch on the veranda, and relaxed get togethers with friends at night happening in this space. When translated into outfit form, descriptors that come to mind are elegant but relaxed, rustic but modern, and eclectic.

This dress (Piperlime) was my initial pick of this outfit; It perfectly embodies the "relaxed elegance" vibe in the space, plus the ombre hemline is really awesome! Simple flat sandals with woven straps (Anthropologie) echo the earth tones and add a rustic flair. A bohemian macramé tote in black (Anthropologie) keeps the outfit from looking too fussy, and transitions from day to night with ease. Finally, a long tassel lariat necklace (Bauble Bar) adds just the right finishing touch.

Some additional sandal options (because I have a fresh pedicure and want my toes peeking out of cute shoes!):

Mani Monday: Colorblocking

Monday, March 3, 2014

Happy Monday, rather, Happy Mani Monday!

I recently tried something new with my nails... Colorblocking with neutrals!

Using Essie "Rock The Boat" and O.P.I "Samoan Sand", I put the pale blue pop on my ring fingers, keeping the other nails neutral. What do you think? Cute, right?! Can you tell I want to be on vacation? All these neutrals and blues... See my post on the nautical trend, and my post featuring chambray sneakers and find out just how ready I am for spring break! Eeep! One more week until relaxation in Daytona with my handsome man!
