Stripes on Stripes

Wednesday, March 16, 2016

A close friend of mine had her birthday on Monday, and this was what I wore out to grab a drink with her. I love stripes, so to style my striped tunic with my striped cross body was a no-brainer! Pairing neutrals together like I've done here is definitely the easiest color combination around, perfect for changing into something after a long day of classes. Another go to for me for occasions like this? An easy updo keeps the hair out of my face and looks stylish, all at once and without having to re-style my hair!

These jeans are from Stitch Fix, and even though I just got them I have worn them so many times! I love that, when you know you made a great purchase because you can't stop wearing something. :)

Hints of Spring

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

The minute I saw this moody floral print tee at LOFT I knew I had to have it, because the olive tone in it was the perfect match for these pants. I was totally right! I love these two pieces together; they are a perfect transition outfit from winter into spring because of the florals combined with the dark colors. When I wore this yesterday for class, I threw on my silver glitter Toms, but I think it also looks great with wedges for a dressier, springtime look. As far as layers go, I grabbed a gray sweater on my way out the door, but a white jean jacket would also look so cute with these looks!

Fall Date Night

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Sweater: GAP (old) / Skirt: J. Crew (old) / Wedges: Michael Kors (similar)
Necklace: Premier Designs / Bracelet: Target (similar)
Clutch (old)

I love mixing unexpected pieces together, like a summery skirt and a fall sweater. This look is perfect for this awkward time of year here in north Florida, where everyone wants it to be fall, but the weather is not at all fall-like. I've had this outfit in my head for awhile, and I can't wait to wear it for a girls night out to dinner or a date night with Kyle!

(Side note #1: My hair looks so red here! My new color looks pretty normal, until the lighting is just right!
Side note #2: I took these pics with my tripod, and I'll be honest when I say I'm not a fan! I don't know how other bloggers do the whole tripod thing... I think I'll be sticking to getting a friend to help me with outfit pics!)

Would you or have you mixed unexpected pieces like this? How do you dress when the weather can't decide what season it is?

Inspired Style: Girly

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Tank: LOFT / Skirt: souvenier from Germany (similar)
Wedges: DSW (similar) / Jewelry: Premier Designs

Inspired Style: This series focuses on outfits inspired by the designed world. Whether it's an interior, an exterior, art, or a color scheme, I am easily inspired to turn beautiful things or ideas into beautiful outfits.

This interior screams girly. From the lush pink velvet couches to the ethereal sheer curtains, there is not one masculine element in the space. You could say the wood detail on the ceiling is the masculine counterpart, yet it's done with such elegance, and from it hangs a beautiful chandelier. In outfit form, I knew this white flowy skirt would be perfect to exemplify the space. A simple tank adds a pop of color, while a statement necklace mimics the chandelier. Cognac wedges ground the outfit, just as the wood ceiling tones down the feminine touches in the interior.

Have a fantastic Wednesday!

Color Crush: Coral, Mint, & Navy

Thursday, May 22, 2014

The combination of coral, mint, and navy is fun & on-trend, yet remarkably classic. Together or separate, these colors are sure to show up in your closet this spring and summer. Below are some picks that I am keeping in mind to add to my closet.

A little story behind some of these items:
--I recently bought a pair of linen pants, and I have been wanting to wear them daily! They are so comfortable for the summer, especially for me as my classroom is cold but by the time class is over it's hot in Tally. So another pair is on my wish list.
--While shopping at the mall in Daytona while on vacation, I found myself in Sears, trying on the drapey tee you see here. I bought it in black, and the fit is amazing! Boxy or drapey tops don't always flatter me, but this one does, and the price can't be beat... $9!
--The striped moto jacket you see here was also a random dressing room try-on in Daytona, at Dillard's. There, they had it on clearance for just under $50. I loved it, didn't need it, and didn't love the price so I put it aside. After checking online through several different stores to see if I could find one for cheaper, I only found them for more expensive! Now I'm wishing I had scooped it up!
